Our Safeguarding Principles

The welfare of the child is paramount — all decisions and actions put the child's safety and wellbeing first.

All children and young people have the right to protection from abuse, neglect, and harm regardless of age, gender, disability, race, faith, or background.

Ngorli CIC takes a proactive approach to safeguarding, building a culture of vigilance and openness where concerns can be raised without fear.

All staff, volunteers, tutors, and mentors working with children undergo enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding induction before any contact with young people.

We work in partnership with parents, carers, Hertfordshire County Council, and local safeguarding partners to protect children.

Concerns are acted on promptly and referred to statutory agencies where a child may be at risk.

What We Do in Practice

Safer Recruitment

Enhanced DBS checks, references, and safeguarding induction for all staff and volunteers working with children.

Codes of Conduct

Clear behaviour expectations for staff, volunteers, parents, and young people to create safe, respectful environments.

Trained Designated Officer

A named Safeguarding Officer maintains training, handles concerns, and liaises with statutory agencies.

Clear Reporting Routes

Any concern — from staff, volunteers, parents, or children — is listened to, recorded, and acted on promptly.

Policy Review

This safeguarding policy is reviewed annually and updated in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children statutory guidance and Hertfordshire Safeguarding Children Partnership procedures. All staff and volunteers receive a copy and are briefed on its contents.

For the full policy document, to raise a concern, or to request information in another format, please contact our Safeguarding Officer.
